New Resource to Aid in Tent Permit Submittals

DOCUMENT PROVIDES FRAMEWORK FOR INDUSTRY BEST PRACTICES

TORRANCE, Calif.

– March 6th, 2019 – Aztec Tents, one of the premier manufacturers of tents and tent related accessories in North America, recently published a new educational resource to help train tent rental companies on proper compliance and regulatory procedures with regard to the process of permitting a tent installation. The document, entitled “Tent Permit Submittal Guide,” covers a wide range of topics related to the installation of tents, canopies and other temporary fabric structures and thoroughly discusses why each aspect should be included in a tent installer’s permit application package.

The development of this document came out of an internal operational workgroup within the Aztec Tents organization that connects real-time issues customers are facing with solutions. This group, comprised of a diverse collection of sales and operations staff, first identified the need for this document several months ago. Through industry research and input from operators on the front lines of the tent rental industry, the concept was refined to create this guide.

“We see a need to develop this type of educational content for our customers and for the industry as a whole,” explains Alex Kouzmanoff, Vice President of Aztec Tents. “It is this type of information sharing that will continue to foster growth in the special events community and growth of our industry.”

The final published document is available on the Aztec Tents website in the “Client Resource” tab in the “Documents” Section and is entitled “Permit Submittal Guide.” Hard copies can also be obtained by contacting your Regional Account Manager. Frame Tents

Frame Tents feature a skeleton of aluminum framework and steel connectors to support the tent top. Although this style of tent is "free-standing" by design, it still must be anchored to resist wind forces. All styles of frame tents have no poles that come to the ground in the interior space of the tent.

Pole Tents

Pole tents rely on tension in the membrane to hold the shape of the tent system. These tents are supported by single or multiple centerpoles in the middle of the tent area and a series of sidepoles around the perimeter of the tent area. The tent is tensioned toward the anchoring locations commonly with a rope or ratchet strap.
